Our Battlefield tours to the Somme follow the events of 1st July 1916 and examine why the British failed to break through. Imagine standing on the site where the greatest loss of human life in modern British warfare occurred in one day - and imagine sharing some of the greatest stories of WW1 with your students. This is a truly unforgettable experience.
Key educational visits in the Somme include Thiepval Memorial, Newfoundland Memorial, Somme 1916 Museum in Albert, Lochnagar Crater, Vimy Ridge Memorial and Wellington Quarry.
We strongly recommend combining educational visits in the Somme with a trip to the Ypres Salient Battlefields in Belgium. The moving Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate is a particularly memorable experience.
