Overview

Known as the Garden of Ireland, Wicklow is home to dramatic mountains, deep valleys and mesmerising ruins.  This itinerary allows you to explore this little pocket of Ireland and get a flavour of some of the country’s geographical gems.

You’ll have the chance to discover Glendalough, a remarkably calming place that has spectacular scenery as well as rich history, fascinating archaeology and abundant wildlife.

Consider combining this itinerary with one of our other Ireland itineraries – perhaps heading to Galway or exploring the city of Dublin.

Our Suggested Itinerary

This itinerary is based on travel by plane, but please let us know if you would like to travel by ferry.

  1. Day 1

    Flight to Dublin.

    Start your trip with a visit to Sea Life Bray and dive into the depths of the ocean!  You’ll be able to discover a range of amazing creatures that are native to the UK, including Cownose Rays and Pyjama Sharks!

    Transfer to Wicklow, arrive and settle into your accommodation.

  2. Day 2

    Begin your day by visiting Wicklow Gaol and go on an unforgettable journey through the original prison building.  It tells the story of men, women and children who were imprisoned during a turbulent past.

    Then visit Greenan Maze and spend some time exploring the family farm that seeks to preserve wildlife areas and natural habitats for lots of friendly creatures.

    Afterwards, head to Glendalough, home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland.  There are a number of monastic remains, the most impressive of which is the Round Tower.

    Optional evening activity: Enjoy an evening of bowling!

  3. Day 3

    Spend the morning at the Wicklow Mountains National Park and discover wonderful landscapes covering over 20,000 hectares.  It is the largest of Ireland’s six National Parks and the primary purpose of the park is the conservation of its biodiversity.

    Make sure you find Powerscourt Waterfall, set in lovely parkland at the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains.  The waterfall is a haven for lots of wildlife, including deer and the native Irish red squirrel!

    Transfer to Dublin and return Flight to the UK.
