With an artistic heritage dating back to Etruscan times, Rome is one of the world's great art cities and a must for an Art and Design school tour.

Throughout history, it has played a starring role in the major upheavals of Western art and the results are there for all to see - amazing classical statues, stunning Renaissance frescoes, breathtaking baroque decor.

Walk around the centre and even without trying you'll come across masterpieces by the greats of the artistic pantheon - sculptures by Michelangelo, paintings by Caravaggio, frescoes by Raphael and fountains by Bernini. In Rome, art is not locked away from view, it's quite literally all around you.

Day 1

Flight to Rome

Explore the famous landmarks of the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
Day 2

Take a guided tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel.

Sketching time, followed by a visit to St Peter's Basilica.

Evening in Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori.
Day 3

Visit the Galleria Borghese (with works by Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael and Rubens) and the nearby Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna.

Explore The Colosseum, one of the greatest works of Roman architecture, and the Roman Forum.
