Overview

Don't be fooled by Slovenia's small size, Slovenia's offerings are as grand and diverse as they come! Home to breathtakingly beautiful lakes, magnificent Julian Alps, and world-famous caves, Slovenia is a gem waiting to be discovered.

There is so much for students to see and experience here, from rowing across Lake Bled to visiting the UNESCO listed Škocjan Caves. With stalagmites, waterfalls and caves aplenty, put theory into practice and witness natural phenomenon all around you!

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Flight from UK to Ljubljana with coach transfer to Lake Bled.

Stretch your legs with a walk around the glacially-formed Lake Bled and admire its clear blue-green waters. Then, test out your rowing skills by hiring traditional wooden rowing boats for the journey to Bled Island.

For a more unique view of the lake, take the chairlift up Straža Hill before racing back down at speeds of up to 40km/h on the Toboggan ride

Check in to accommodation in Bled Village.

  2. Day 2

Spend your first full day by heading to the gateway to Triglav National Park for a visit to the magical Vintgar Gorge. Learn about the gorge's origins and the geological structure that shapes it, obverse the many plant species that grow in its microclimate, and take a photo with the picturesque Šum waterfall

In the afternoon, explore over 1000 years of history at Bled Castle. Dramatically perched on a sheer cliff overlooking the emerald-green lake, this fairy tale castle is the perfect spot for some breath-taking views.

  3. Day 3

Spend the morning taking a guided tour of Postojna Caves, an underground kingdom of caverns, halls and passages. Marvel at the Brilliant, a breath-taking five-metre-tall stalagmite!

    OR

Head to the Škocjan Caves, a unique natural phenomenon formed from the dissolving of limestone by the Reka River. With its awe-inspiring stalagmites and stalactites, numerous waterfalls and one of the world's largest underground canyons, this subterranean world has more than earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Emerge back above ground- but not for long! Admire Predjama Castle, a medieval wonder perched in the centre of a 123 metre-high cliff face, before descending into its network of secret tunnels below. It's the largest cave castle in the world.

Transfer to Ljubljana and check in to accommodation.

  4. Day 4

Wake up in Slovenia's vibrant and forward-thinking capital, Ljubljana, named Europe's Green Capital in 2016.

Observe how nature intersects seamlessly with culture in Tivoli Park, the largest and most beautiful green space right in the heart of Ljubljana. Be sure not to miss the glasshouse which displays a permanent exhibition of tropical plants.

    Return flight home.
