Overview

Nantes makes for an exciting destination for French language students – here you’ll find plenty of opportunities to put your language skills to the test, with visits to markets and the potential for French guided tours at some of the main sights!

The city also has plenty to offer for enrichment and general cultural trips!  The unique and fantastical Machines de l’Ile is a must-visit, plus there’s also the possibility to do both Puy du Fou theme park and Futuroscope as day trips – let us know which one you’d prefer, or if you’d rather have another day in Nantes.

Our Suggested Itinerary

Travelling by coach - let us know if you prefer to fly! 

  1. Day 1

    Depart school and channel crossing to France.

    Arrive at your accommodation in Nantes.

    This evening, catch your first glimpse of the city’s sights with a visit to Le Nid, at the top of the Tour Bretagne.  From here you’ll have panoramic 360 degree views of the city!

  2. Day 2

    This morning head to Les Machines de l’Île for an exciting adventure around Nantes’ former shipyards from the back of a giant mechanical elephant – inspired by the fantastical creations of Jules Verne.

    Grab some lunch and enjoy some time for souvenir shopping in the charming Place Royal and Passage Pommeraye!

    In the afternoon, pay a visit to the Château des ducs du Bretagne, which was the residence of the Dukes of Brittany between the 13th and 16th centuries.

    Round off your day and see the sights from a new perspective with a river cruise!

    Optional evening activity: enjoy a game of bowling or mini-golf.

  3. Day 3

    Today you’ll spend a fun-filled day at the Puy du Fou theme park!  Its trademark is spectacular history extravaganza shows – where thousands of actors and animals recreate high drama, from Roman gladiators to King Arthur, with mind-blowing special effects.

  4. Day 4

    Pay a visit to Nantes' spectacular Gothic Cathedral- the Cathédrale St-Pierre et St-Paul!

    Put your students' language skills into action with a visit to the Marché Talensac, where you'll be able to pick up some lunch. 

    Enjoy your lunch in the charming Jardin des Plantes!

    Journey back to school.
