Overview

This Fashion and Textiles trip allows students to discover how the fashion industry works in one of the fashion capitals of the world.  It provides invaluable study opportunities for students of fashion, textiles and tailoring, as well as the opportunity to delve into some cultural history.  There is no better destination to immerse yourself in the history and business of clothing than the birthplace of haute couture and the home of many famous fashion house headquarters. 

This great itinerary includes visits to a textile museum, a guided fashion tour of Paris, opportunities to see key garments from famous designers such as Yves Saint Laurent or Pierre Cardin, and learning about current trends at the Galeries Lafayette Fashion Show.

Our Suggested Itinerary

This itinerary is based on travelling by coach, but let us know if you would prefer to travel by Eurostar or by air.

  1. Day 1

    Depart school in the morning and travel to France.

    Head to the Marché Saint Pierre, the city’s largest and oldest textile market.  Popular among fashion conscious locals and designers, you can explore a treasure trove of classic and modern fabrics.

    Then enjoy a stroll around Montmartre, Paris’ artistic neighbourhood and take in the variety of cafés, painters' studios and street art – plenty of photo opportunities!

  2. Day 2

    In the morning, gain a true insight into the fashion world on a Guided Fashion Walk, with a fashion specialist!

    Then pay a visit to the Pierre Cardin Museum to learn about the working life of the avant-garde designer.  Admire his passion for couture, accessories, jewellery and design.

    Afterwards, head to the Musée de la Mode et du Textile, part of the Musée de Art Décoratifs, and explore exhibitions displaying thousands of pieces including costumes, accessories and textiles from the third century to the present day.

    OR

    Visit the Palais Galliera, to see an extensive collection of costumes, accessories and photography which reflect the fashion trends and habits of France from the 18th century up to modern day.

    Finish your day with a stroll through the Tuileries Gardens, a leafy paradise nestled in the heart of a bustling city.

  3. Day 3

    Begin your final day in Paris with a guided tour of the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, the designer’s former atelier which is now a foundation museum dedicated to his life and work.

    Get an exclusive sneak peek at the season’s fashion at the Galeries Lafayette Fashion Show, sure to be an experience you won’t forget in a hurry!  (These shows take place on Fridays at 3PM.)

    Travel back to UK.

We use safe and secure accommodation especially suited to schools.  Our accommodation is usually 2* or youth hostel standard.  All accommodation we use is audited, and our auditing regime is verified by independent experts.  Some examples of the accommodation we offer in Paris are the FIAP Jean Monnet, Résidence Internationale de Paris and several Auberges de Jeunesse.  If you have a preference please let us know!
