Being such an easy distance from the UK, a day trip to the Opal Coast is a great way to dip into some well-loved French traditions. There are a number of different visits you can choose from, depending on the focus of your trip. Maybe the experience of authentic French culture calls for a trip to a traditional Boulangerie and Snail Farm! Or if the focus is history, there are a number of war memorials and museums to educate students about the experiences of soldiers.
For a more relaxed trip, you could choose to spend some leisure time in one of the charming towns of Boulogne-sur-Mer or Le Touquet. Go for a stroll along the beachfront and test out your French with the locals!
Our Suggested Itinerary
Travelling by coach.
Coach transfer and channel crossing to France.
Visit the biggest aquarium in Europe; at Nausicaá you can see an impressive variety of sea creatures and partake in exciting interactive activities. The aquarium also seeks to educate its visitors about the impact of global warming on their environment.
After lunch, visit La Coupole, a WW2 bunker complex which tells the story of the German occupation of France, the V-weapons and the history of space exploration.
Then head to a traditional French Boulangerie or Chocolaterie. Great visits that are hands-on and of course come with free samples!
Optional add on: Make a stop off at Cité Europe Shopping Centre to discover some of the big name stores before your channel crossing.
Travel back to UK.
Testimonials about this trip:
Stoke Primary SchoolThis was our first trip to France and a very successful one at that! Diverse have been helpful every step of the way and I would use them again.
Eversfield Preparatory SchoolThe hotel is a great venue for school parties, safe, clean and we were well looked after
Donhead Preparatory SchoolI have been working with Diverse for 4 years now. Roxane (my agent) is a star and she efficiently deals with all the issues we might face.
Rockwood AcademyAs our trip to the Opal Coast was a fantastic experience, next year we would like to have a longer stay.
Priory SchoolI particularly liked having one person deal with the whole planning and details. Other companies have a sales representative and then it is passed to another person to actually organise the trip. It made a big difference only dealing with one person.
