Home to some of the most influential media corporations in the world, London makes for an exciting and inspiring destination for a Media and Film Studies trip.
Students participate in a newsroom workshop at The Guardian or spend a day at the Sky Skills Studios making their own report. The BBFC runs its own seminars on Film Censorship and Media Regulation, then of course there is the world-famous The Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour, where your students will have the chance to tour the actual stage sets used in the films, plus so much more!
Our Suggested Itinerary
Depart school and arrive in London.
Attend a BBFC Student Seminar. An excellent opportunity for students studying Film Censorship and/or Media Regulation, The British Board of Film Classification runs student seminars, which include a presentation by a Compliance Officer, illustrated by clips from relevant films. Ask about the possibility of adding a Q&A session to give students the chance to ask questions about the work of the BBFC.
Take part in a Guardian Newsroom Workshop. Your students will report the news as it happens and encounter the real-life experience of making a newspaper front page. Understandably, this is an extremely popular visit, and needs to be booked far in advance!
Learn about television production or the film-making process at the Sky Skills Studios OR The Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour!
Sky Skills Studios is a hands-on learning experience, where your students will work with a team of experts and cutting-edge technology to produce their own television report.
The Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a spell-binding behind-the-scenes exploration of the sets used in the massively successful franchise.
Return to school.
