Day 1
Private coach transfers to Shropshire are included.
Begin your trip with a visit to Wroxeter, Roman City. Once the fourth largest city in Roman Britain, Wroxeter is now an excavated site with museum that you can explore. You can also experience what life would have been like in a recreation of a Roman house! This site will help you understand how the bank complex and market worked, as well as typical life in Wroxeter.
After lunch, it is time to jump forwards in time, around 18 centuries' time! Head to Blists Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum which aims to recreate a Victorian Shropshire town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With three distinct areas to discover, you can be in the town centre surrounded by Victorian shops one second, and in a countryside district with a tin-roof church, the next!
Finish your day with a stroll around Ironbridge. As the recognised birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, this iron bridge was erected in 1779- the first iron bridge in the world! This bridge marked a turning point, and influenced cast iron being used in bridges, aqueducts and buildings across England, and beyond.
Accommodation is included, group dinner will be provided tonight.

Day 2
This morning begins with a trip to Ludlow Castle, an 11th century castle with stunning views over the Shropshire countryside. Take a look into the lives of medieval and Tudor society, including a look into the ancient lodgings of former residents: kings, queens, judges and nobility. One famous occupier was Prince Edward (one of the 'Princes in the Tower'), who was in residence here when he assumed the title of King Edward V!
Grab some lunch from the market just outside the castle grounds. What better place to eat them than in the shadow of one of the finest medieval ruins in England.
After your lunches, it is time to head out for your next visits.
You can now head to Stokesay Castle, one of the best surviving fortified manor houses in England. Through tree-ring dating, work on this manor house was completed by 1291, and very little has changed since! With views over the Welsh Border hills, this 'castle' truly feels stuck in time.
Finish your day at Wenlock Priory, medieval timber-framed buildings line streets here with parts of the 13th-century church still standing tall. Perhaps its greatest legacy lies in inspiring the modern Olympic Games. Organised by the Wenlock Olympian Society, games were held every year around Shropshire. It's role as a forerunner to the modern Olympic Games cannot be understated, the London 2012 mascot was even named Wenlock, in reference to the Wenlock Olympian Society games.
Group meal at your accommodation is included.

Day 3
Your final day calls for another round of unique and engaging visits!
Begin your day at Chirk Castle, a medieval fortress with over 700 years worth of inhabitants, each leaving their mark on both the history and interiors of the eclectic castle!
Next, head to Oswestry Hillfort, one of Britain's oldest settlements from the Iron Age (800BC to 43AD). A small climb will reward you with spectacular views of both the town and wider county - it is also the mythological birthplace of Queen Guinevere, one of the most popular queens in Arthurian legend!
After lunch, it's time to head behind bars! Finishing a trip at a prison may not be the usual choice, but when in Shrewsbury, a visit to this iconic Victorian prison is a must. The original Georgian prison's remains are still accessible from under the current prison building. For many years, Shrewsbury Prison was a place of execution- now is a great spot to learn more about the criminal justice system and the stories of those who have passed through.
Private coach transfer back to school is included.
