Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Coach transfer to the Lake District.

Begin your day with the Armitt Library and Museum, located in Ambleside. As an interesting fusion between a museum, gallery and library, this visit will open students' eyes to the history and heritage of the area and its people through collections by notorious locals including Beatrix Potter and The Armitt Sisters!

Next, explore the area of Ambleside for some leisure time and to pick up some lunch.

In the afternoon, make your way to Keswick, a small market town surrounded by mountains. Enjoy a Ghost Walk, uncovering the stories of the area from local legend, myth, and folklore. Discover the power of effective storytelling through this unique experience.

Head to your accommodation to settle in and enjoy a group meal.

  2. Day 2

Day 2 begins with breakfast at the accommodation.

Today, you'll be heading to Wordsworth Grasmere for a full-day workshop. There are plenty of workshops to choose from, including: Discover the Gothic, where you can analyse an extract from Gothic fiction, Real Live Writers, where students work with a poet for the day including poetry readings and creative writing, or Words in the Woods, an outdoor language session bringing William Wordsworth's love of nature and words into nature.

You'll now be heading back to your accommodation for dinner.

If you'd like, you can head for a theatre production at Theatre by the Lake. (Depending on availability)

  3. Day 3

After breakfast at your accommodation, you'll be able to explore the Derwent Pencil Museum. In Keswick, the home of the first pencil, students will be able to journey through a replica graphite mine and discover the unique history of the humble pencil. Plus, you can enjoy browsing their secret WW2 pencils with hidden maps, one of the largest colour pencils in the world and miniature pencil sculptures!

Conclude your Lake District trip with a lake cruise on Derwentwater. Experience the beauty and breath-taking views of this area, and a unique perspective of Skiddaw, England's 4th highest mountain.

    Coach transfer back to school.
