About Dover

With spectacular white cliffs and an incredible history, Dover has been a significant port since Roman times.  Thanks to its close proximity to France, it played a crucial defensive role in the Second World War.

This is a great destination for History students to explore fascinating sites of the Second World War, which bring to life the realities faced by men and women on the front line.  Discover the Ramsgate Tunnels - where thousands took shelter and lived under the town of Ramsgate, take a closer look at aircraft from the war in the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum and hear personal stories from the war at the Battle of Britain Museum.

You could also consider combining a History trip to Dover with our London WW2 trip, check out the itinerary and talk to us about how you could combine the two!
