An area of stunning nature, fairytale towns and local crafts, the Black Forest has plenty of activities on offer.

Start your trip with a visit to the Black Forest Open Air Museum to gain an insight into the region's history, before heading on to the charming towns of Freiburg and Triberg.  Explore the nature of the area with a visit to Gutach Falls, a cable car ride to the top of Schauinsland mountain and a picturesque boat cruise on Lake Titisee, before topping off your trip with an exciting day out at Europa-Park! 

With a wide range of educational and cultural visits, our tours to the Black Forest allow students to be fully immersed in the region's culture and put their language skills into practice.

Our Suggested Itinerary

Travelling by coach. 

  1. Day 1

    Overnight travel by coach.

    Arrive in Freiburg and get your bearings by exploring the cobbled streets of this charming town - make sure to look out for the iconic "Bächle" (little canals)!

    Visit Freiburg Minster - the Swiss historian Jakob Burckhardt once said that this Gothic cathedral's 116-metre tower would forever remain the most beautiful spire on earth. 

    Take the funicular railway up the Schlossberg, once part of Freiburg's medieval fortifications, for unrivalled views of the city and surrounding forest. 

    Arrive at your accommodation for an evening at leisure.

  2. Day 2

    Enjoy a visit to the Dorotheenhütte Glass Factory, the only glassworks in the Black Forest where you can see how lead crystal is mouth-blown and hand-cut.

    Discover 400 years of Black Forest History with a guided tour of the Black Forest Open Air Museum.

    Afternoon visit to the spectacular Gutach Falls, the highest waterfall in Germany.

  3. Day 3

    Spend the day at Europa-Park, Germany's most popular theme park.  Here you'll find a variety of roller coasters and water rides themed around different European countries!

  4. Day 4

    Enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the idyllic Lake Titisee.

    Travel back to the UK.

  5. Optional Extra Day

    Add a day to visit one of the region's surrounding cities!  You could head to the spa town of Baden-Baden, cross the border to France to visit Strasbourg, or go south towards Switzerland to explore the city of Basel.

We use safe and secure accommodation especially suited to schools.  For our Black Forest trips, we usually use the German Youth Hostel Association (DJH) which have ideal facilities for schools.  All accommodation we use is audited, and our auditing regime is verified by independent experts.
