A behind-the-scenes tour of the BBC studios at MediaCityUK makes for an excellent Media Studies day trip.  The tour provides your students with a fascinating insight into how TV and radio work at one of the world's largest broadcast organisations.

Manchester is a thriving cultural city brimming with exciting creative developments, such as the HOME contemporary arts centre, as well as an abundance of galleries and festivals. 

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Depart school and arrive in Salford Quays.

    Take a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the BBC studios at MediaCityUK.  The well-informed and friendly tour guides will entertain and surprise you as you walk in the footsteps of your favourite stars.  Students will have the chance to see the most interesting areas available, as well as gaining a fascinating insight into how TV and radio work.

    Visit HOME, Manchester's cultural hub that showcases independent films from all around the world and art exhibitions in its galleries.

    Either watch one of the films being shown at HOME, spend some leisure time in the city centre and visit the Whitworth Art Gallery, or pop into the independent shops and cafés in the vibrant and exciting Northern Quarter.

    Return to school.


Our Manchester Media trip is most commonly done as a day trip, but do let us know if you'd like to include an overnight stay!  We only use safe and secure accommodation especially suited to schools; providing a perfect base for you to enjoy your tour.  Our schools often choose to stay at one of the YHA's hostels for our UK based trips.
