About Ypres

The Belgian town of Ypres is the perfect destination to give students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of living through the First World War.  It is surrounded by the Ypres Salient battlefields which are now home to many cemeteries, memorials and war museums.  Our WW1 Battlefields tours concentrate on the period from the beginning of the Battle of Messines in June 1917 to the Battle of Passchendaele in November 1917.

Your students will be able to visit places of remembrance and explore the different museums that show the reality of life of a soldier and bring history back to life.

You could also tailor your battlefields visits to a specific subject; we have some great visits for you to learn about the use of medicine during the war or to help you understand the context behind some of the most well-known war poetry.  And to extend your trip and visit more Battlefields, take a look at our Somme itineraries.
