Overview

Our fascinating Crime and Punishment tour investigates the social context of crime and the developments in policing throughout history.

Through a series of activities and workshops students are encouraged to hone their debating and problem solving skills.

The programme is designed to support the National Curriculum's Schools History Project GCSE development study "Crime and Punishment Through Time".

It can just as easily be adapted to support the Key Stage 2 Crime and Punishment unit and works great as a day trip for younger pupils.

Day Trip from £49pp or 2 days/1 night from £109pp

Day 1

Depart school and travel to London.

Take part in a "Crime in Whitechapel" workshop at the National Archives in Kew. Using documents from their collection, learn more about why 19th century Whitechapel posed so many problems for the police.

Pay a visit to The London Dungeon - a 90 minute journey through 1000 years of London's murky history.

Learn more about the mysterious Jack the Ripper case and evaluate why 19th century police were unable to solve the case, with a fantastic Jack the Ripper walking tour.
Day 2

Spend the morning at the Tower of London, one of the world's most famous fortresses!

Visit to the Clink Prison Museum, to gain an understanding of crime and punishment through the Medieval, Tudor and Elizabethan time periods. Let us know if you prefer a guided or self-guided tour.

Return journey home.
